Let's be contentious...

If the library (at its best) stands for openness, sharing, freedom and independence in the processes and practices of learning, and thereby tends to democracy, and the classroom (at its worst) stands for confinement, control, conformity and compulsion, and tends to autocracy, then the digital, networked environment, as a learning environment, is more like a library than a classroom...

...although this does not mean that practitioners in this networked, learning environment are more like librarians (as conventionally conceived) than teachers (as conventionally conceived). Rather they may variously be characterised as pedagogical curators, curatorial pedagogues or possibly participants in the processes of collective sensemaking.
